| Victorian Community History Part of Living In Victoria and in Melbourne, now voted the world's most liveable city four times, is appreciating the rich history we have. History is what made this state of ours what it is today! That history is very much enhanced by knowing what our own local community history is! All Victorians have a story to tell and many want to look back and discover who their long lost ancestors are. There will be a surge of interest in this subject over the next few years as the British Government releases from its archives the passenger lists of all Britons who migrated to foreign climes from 1800 onwards. Many of us are the descendents of those brave folk and we have from the first European settlers, together with newer waves of Australians and a rich Koori culture, created a very impressive history the result of which we dwell in today! The Ministry of Information, Victoria, is very keen to keep alive the stories that made this wonderful place what it is today. The Ministry of Information want to develop an awareness of community history across the state by promoting excellence within historical research to the benefit of the community.
